For fire departments
A whole kids' fire safety event, ready to print for your open house, school visit or story time. It's free, and it's generic on purpose, so it becomes yours.

Why use it
- It's free. No account, no order form and no minimum. Print as many copies as your event needs.
- It becomes yours. There are no real department names, patches or logos in it. Write your department's name, date, time and address in the blanks.
- The facts are checked. Every safety tip follows published guidance from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the U.S. Fire Administration, and the fire words are right: engine or ladder truck, turnout gear, and an air pack that holds air, not oxygen. See how we check the facts.
- It's made for young kids. The Safety Day kit is built for ages 4 to 10, the activity packs and picture bingo start at age 3, and the games and stories work for kids who can't read yet.
- It works with what you already use. Hand it out alongside your Fire Prevention Week materials, or use it on its own any time of year.
The Safety Day kit
Kids move through eight short stations, get a stamp at each one on their Polka Dot Passport, say the Safety Promise together and go home with a certificate. It runs about 30 to 40 minutes for a group of 8 to 10 kids, ages 4 to 10, with one firefighter or volunteer per station.

Tell us how it went
Used the kit at an event? We'd love to hear what worked, what the kids liked and what you'd add.
Firefighters, we'd love your eyes on this. If you spot a word or a picture that isn't how it's done, we want to fix it.
